The Nativity Church in Bethlehem and the Grotto within it, mark the Holy Place where
Mary gave birth to Jesus Christ.
The Grotto is adorned with a Silver Star called the “Star of Bethlehem”
as mentioned in the New Testament. This is the Star which announced the time of
Jesus’ birth and which, in the Grotto of the Church, marks the exact place where
Jesus was born.
The Star was placed in the Grotto by the Franciscans in the year 1717 and on this
Star the following words were inscribed in Latin:
'Hic de Virgine Maria Jesus Christus natus est'
Translated in English, it reads:
'Here the Virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus Christ'
Hundred of thousands of pilgrims touring the Holy Land do not miss the opportunity
of visiting the Church of the Nativity and of descending into the Grotto in order
to pray for themselves and their loved ones in this Holy Place where it all began
more than 2000 years ago.
The 'Nativity Pendant' is a unique and spiritual cameo blessed by the Franciscan
Fathers in the Grotto and it is the first of its kind ever made. It is made in
the Holy Land and sold throughout the world. It gives millions of believers worldwide,
and especially those who have never had the chance to visit the Church of the Nativity,
the opportunity and the privilege to be spiritually linked to this Holy Place and
to draw into their souls and that of their loved ones, its Eternal Spiritual Light.
